History The Arizona Holistic Chamber of Commerce In the fall of 2004, Pam Fox and Meredith Davis heard about a Holistic Chamber of Commerce in Houston Texas. Although Pam and Meredith were both Realtors at the time, they were holistically-minded Realtors, and they recognized a good idea when they heard one! So, they contacted the Houston organization and set about creating a Holistic Chamber in Arizona, modeled after the Houston Chamber. The Holistic Chamber of Commerce in Dallas was the first of its kind, followed by Houston’s, and then the AZHCC.On January 20th, 2005, the Arizona Holistic Chamber of Commerce was born. One hundred and ten attendees came to the first meeting, celebrating this new idea of a Chamber of Commerce designed to serve the needs of the Holistic Community. This would be a place where like-minded people could promote their businesses with the support of a cohesive community of people doing business and living from a holistic perspective. Since then, the AZHCC has sought to find ways to serve its membership. The Chamber offers monthly luncheons with educational and inspirational speakers. Members have opportunities to showcase their businesses and services at networking mixers, breakfasts, luncheons, events and expos. Over the years the organization has held educational seminars, open mic nights, fund raisers, charitable events, and picnics. From "Smokin' Deal" coupons to reduced-cost on-line videos, members can look forward to focused and personalized opportunities to promote their business through the support of the chamber. The AZHCC also supports other holistic chambers in getting started in other states and in Arizona. It is part of the Vision of the Chamber to see holistic chambers in every major city, along with a viable national holistic chamber of commerce. The 2012 Board of Directors, led by its past President and current Executive Director, Janet Gangl, is taking the Chamber, literally, in exciting new directions through their leadership. There are now events in the North, South, East, and West areas of the Valley of the Sun. As membership increases, so does the diversity of its members. The Arizona Holistic Chamber of Commerce has evolved since that day in January of 2005. It continues to change and grow into its Vision, one of bringing conscious holistic living to the mainstream through supporting this valuable community of business people. The Arizona Holistic Chamber of Commerce Creating a New Spirit In Business A Word about the Founders Meredith Davis was a Realtor in 2005, the year the Chamber was founded. Today, she lives in Sedona, AZ, with her dog, Cheney. She is a mixed media artist and a Shamanic Breathwork Minister. She and partner John Deakyne have founded the Earth School for Souls, offering participants Shamanic journeying through their breathwork seminars. Pam Fox was also a Realtor in 2005. Today she lives in Fountain Hills, AZ, with her husband, Jim, and Snoopy the cat. She is a Certified Lipsologist (Lip Print Reader) and works at corporate events, parties and spas, sharing the insights and teachings found in lip prints. Her book on Lip Print Reading will be published within the year. She is one of the editors and co-writers of the weekly AZHCC Newsletter.
